My ipod is still under warranty. I dont want to have to buy another ipod, but the best they can offer me is a small discount on a new ipod. Is there a way around the system to get my ipod repaired?

i bought my ipod touch 2G 8 Gb at Target. Two days later, i found scratches on the screen. First of all, i placed it in my pocket everyday by itself. Also, didn’t Apple say it was scratch proof? I saw that it was scratch proof, and that is the reason i bought the ipod in the first place.
So, can i still return it? I still have the original packing and all the accessories untouched. I also have my receipt. Yeah.

In the beginning, there was a large black streak across my screen. I ordered a new LCD screen. It arrived this morning. After about an hour of wrestling with the inerds of the device, I got everything installed and back together. Then, when I put the device back together and turned it on, all I got was the “Sad iPod” icon. After going back in and checking the connections numerous times, the device now fails to turn on all together. Is there a way I can fix this problem without spending the $150+ that Apple will charge to repair it?

For some reason, my iPod screen decided to give in to the white screen of death. Yes, I’ve tried restoring it, restarting it, the troubleshooting on apple.ca–the only thing that works is if I apply pressure just below the screen. The sound still works fine, it’s just the screen that’s broken. It did this suddenly when I was going through some playlists, so it’s not like I dropped it or anything.
I’m just wondering if it’s worth the $45 to have it shipped and repaired. I’m not entirely sure if Apple will see it as being my fault and then charge me another $100 or so, or if they “lose” my iPod when I send it in and then I have to buy a new one (it’s a Classic) >.<
Have you sent your iPod in for repairs, and what happened? Would it be worth it to send mine in? Is there a way to cancel the fee, as I've already submitted my request for repair?

My iPod’s warranty just went out about a month ago and the screen totally went dead. The screen has turned white and blue with little squiggly lines on it. How much do you think I’d have to pay for them to repair the screen without any warranty? Would it cost as much as going out and just buying a new one?
(BTW, I have the 2nd generation iPod nano)
